SRDC BAR POLICY
1) On the Renters honor, a rental of over 75 people attending requires SRDC to serve and
sell alcoholic beverages.
2) If the renter wants SRDC to serve alcohol via barrels (IE ½, ¼ barrels) a special liquor
license must be obtained.
3)If the SRDC bar is open no alcohol shall be brought in unless agreed upon by the
acting bar manager
4) SRDC shall provide bar tenders at the amount of $15 per hour per bartender. Renter may provide extra bartenders as long as SRDC bar tender/s are present and is agreed
upon by acting SRDC Bar manager
5) Large events at SRDC Park requiring extra bar areas or special set up will be charged
$150.00 for set up and tear down
6) Large events at SRDC Community building requiring extra attention or set-up will be
charged an additional $75 charge
7)A gratuity of 15% will be added to the final bar invoice for any event that will not be
charging attendees “Open bar” situations
8) Member pricing, A member of the SRDC is classified as someone who has paid there dues at a minimum of the last 3yrs and has worked/volunteered at SRDC Fundraisers. A
renter is not able to just pay 3yrs membership in order to receive the member price. It should be noted that if a member in good standing uses his/her membership to get a discounted rate for a rental for anyone other than themselves they will be held liable for any issues, damages, lawsuits and shall provide proof of insurance coverage for that rental and maybe be subject to loss of membership if issues should arise.
Q and A
1)Why does the club need to handle the bar on events larger than 75 people?
Answer: Due to insurance and Dram shop liabilities SRDC needs to be in control of drinks being served.
2)Why do we need a special liquor license for ½ barrels?
Answer: If any alcohol is wanting to be returned after an event that event must attain a special liquor license, SRDC does not keep ½ barrels in stock. This also applies to any event wanting to return alcohol in any manner. This is a charge with the village for this and needs to be submitted to the state at a very minimum of 6 weeks prior to the event.
3)Why can’t we bring in alcohol when the SRDC bar is open?
Answer: Simply put, for insurance and Dram shop reasons SRDC needs to purchase and supply all alcohol in accordance with the law.
4)Why can’t we just supply all of our own bartenders?
Answer: This again has to do with Liability and Dram shop insurance. Our bartenders must be SRDC members and must be present in order to be covered while serving Alcohol.
5/6)Why do we have to pay a setup/tear down fee when we already have to pay a rental and bartenders?
Answer: Do to the amount of time required to place and receive the orders and then set up and stock as well as setup and tear down the day of the event requires us to charge for this time and is simply too much to ask of a volunteer to do for free.
7)Why is there a 15% Gratuity added on an “open bar” situation
Answer: Unfortunately open bar situations have typically proven that the bartenders working that event tend to leave “empty handed” other than the minimum wage amount they are being paid. This is a common practice at restaurants and bars to help compensate and retain good help for large events
Please feel free to reach out to the bar manager and discuss any of the above before signing a contract. We want this to be the best experience possible for everyone and feel that these are some of the major questions that arise and can help ensure a great event!
